The Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, Inc. will have a special event radio station at the World Dragon Boat Championships in Welland, Ontario at the International Flat Water Course. NPARC, Inc. members will be demonstrating amateur radio, answering questions and making contacts around the world to promote the World Dragon Boat Championships. The club has obtained the special event call sign of VE3WDBC. 'VE' stands for Canada, '3' means we are in Ontario and 'WDBC' stands for World Dragon Boat Championship. Four letter suffixes in amateur radio call-signs are very rare. This uniqueness should draw many amateurs from around the world to contact the dragon boat station. All amateurs that contact the station will receive a post card size document with a photo and contact information via email to confirm they were speaking to the World Dragon Boat Championship station. There are many collectors of 'QSL' post cards in the amateur radio hobby.
